Finding and contacting suppliers can be intimidating for some, sometimes to the extent that they continue to find reason to put it off. For whatever reason, we, as humans, sometimes try to put important tasks off for later. This is not a healthy practice, especially as it concerns your Internet business. So here are seven tips to help you overcome procrastination:
- Take the first step. Too many times we get caught up analyzing what needs to be done and the perfect way to do it. All too frequently this is just a cover behavior for our lack of desire to complete the task. If you find yourself doing this, just keep in mind that you can never complete something you never start. Pick an activity to start with, and begin working on it even if you don’t know exactly what you’re doing.
- Slow down your idea factory. Have you ever talked with someone who has a great idea for virtually everything, but never actually does anything about those ideas? Don’t let yourself be that person. When you have a good idea, act on it, don’t let your constant flow of ideas keep you from taking action.
- Have confidence. A lot of procrastination stems from a lack of self-confidence. Don’t let this happen to you. Be confident in your decisions, stand behind your ideas; if it turns out they were great, let that confidence swell, if it turns out they were not so great, take confidence that you can learn and not make the same mistake again.
- Be persistent. Persistence is a huge factor in overcoming procrastination. Most people don’t even realize that procrastinating has become a habit; and it is only through practiced daily effort that you can break habits. So stay strong and keep moving forward.
- Have faith in your abilities. Trust your skills and abilities for you have many. All too often people deride themselves and their insufficiencies and use that as an excuse for inactivity instead of putting faith in their abilities and accomplishing tasks.
- Never give up. No matter what happens, don’t quit. You’ll never know what could have been if you simply give up. Things may get difficult at times, but quitting won’t help anything.
- Set deadlines. Part of procrastinating is not having a solid deadline for your tasks. So create small deadlines for those tasks you know you don’t enjoy or that are hard for you. Doing so will provide you with a goal to reach for, and it will help build confidence each time you reach your goal.
